'The Kindly ones' / Zohar Tal Inbar

The series was created with women in mind.

Vulnerability and weakness, exploitation and violence throughout history and to this day,

created in me a deep need to grant women mythical power in retrospect and in advance, while I see women throughout history as part of an old mythology, versus the new one that is still emerging.

I recruited the Erinyes goddesses of vengeance (also known as Furies) to my side,

Because they were strong enough to change the worlds order, and were therefore considered evil, but in my eyes, they are the strong women we all should be.

I delved into the works of various classical painters who were good at drawing stories from mythology and who treated women in tragedy in their paintings, and also into the works of an Italian painter – Artemisia Gentileschi, whose tragic personal life is reflected in her art, and this is her strength.

The name 'The kindly ones' refers to the mythological story of the Erinyes goddesses of vengeance, who were invited by the goddess Athena to sit on the high court of justice.

'This tragedy concludes the Oresteia trilogy. The Erinyes goddesses of vengeance, pursue Orestes, and the god Apollo sends him to be tried in Athens. The goddess Athena establishes the first criminal court for this purpose. The Erinyes goddesses and Apollo compete in the trial, and in the end, Orestes is acquitted, and Athena convinces the Erinyes goddesses to sit in Athens as "The kindly ones" goddesses and leave matters of blood in the hands of civilian judges. The Oresteia is the great tragic work, dedicated to the path that man takes from the shedding of blood to the creation of the concepts and tools through which justice is done.'

The series consists entirely of Transcriptions to original works while I add a personal interpretation influenced by place and time.

Seven works in the series are already in the process of being completed and the series will contain about 8 more works.

In total, there will be about 15 works in the series (number not final). All works are oil on canvas.
